CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association)

CompTIA is a non-profit trade association known for its IT certification exams and test preparation courses.

Originally known as the Association of Better Computer Dealers, the organization changed its name to the Computing Technology Industry Association in 1992. Today, CompTIA is often associated with education for networking, IT philanthropy, IT advocacy, and helping members of the IT channel marketplace stay up to speed with the latest technology and industry best practices.

CompTIA’s certification exams are performance based and require the test taker to demonstrate working knowledge and practical use of current software and operating systems. Certifications include:

CompTIA A+ Certification – demonstrates foundational IT skills across a variety of devices and operating systems.

CompTIA Network+ Certification – demonstrates skills needed to design, configure, manage and troubleshoot wired and wireless devices.

CompTIA Security+ Certification – demonstrates knowledge of best practices in IT network and operational security.
