Joey Barton has suggested that Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri ‘out-coached’ Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino
Tottenham dominated the first half before Juventus secured an impressive turnaround to progress into the quarter-finals.
Son Heung-min’s 39th-minute goal put Tottenham in a commanding position at Wembley as the hosts led the tie 3-2, but inside three minutes in the second half, Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala scored to earn Juve a 4-3 triumph.
Barton believes that Allegri’s decision to switch his team’s formation to 4-4-2 was the factor that turned things around for the Italian club.
Joey Barton tweeted: “Max Allegri just straight up out coached Poch in the 2nd half. Shift to a back 4 throw Spurs and allowed Juve to steal the momentum. Then the big game experience shone through after that. Spurs should improve for the experience.”
