Adam Lallana Delighted After Scoring First England Goal

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana is delighted to finally break his scoring duck for England.

Lallana scored in the 95th minute as England won their World Cup Qualifying match against Slovakia. The match was Lallana’s 27th for the Three Lions.

He said after the match: “It’s been a long time coming. I put pressure on myself to score goals and I knew it was only a matter of time.”

“I had a few chances tonight. The ones that hits the post is a great effort and just unlucky. We keep plugging away and I thought as a unit we played brilliantly.

“They didn’t have any chances. So credit to the lads how we’ve worked since the new boss has come in. it’s a great start.”

Good start for Sam Allardyce

Lallana also had praise for new England manager Sam Allardyce.

“It’s a great start for him [Sam] and the team. He made it very clear to us that he wanted to keep a clean sheet away from home in a World Cup qualifier.

“It was going to be tough and I also thought we were very disciplined today at times. Also as the game went on and they went down to ten men we did create the chances.

“Sometimes you’ve just got to stick it out until the last minute and thankfully we got the goal.”
