Ryan Giggs Holds Talks With Swansea Over Managerial Job

Ryan Giggs is the leading candidate to become he new Swansea manager, according to The Sun.

The Welshman, 42, could take over from Francesco Guidolin after his disappointing start to the Premier League season.

The Sun report talks have already taken place with Giggs and Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins.

Guidolin’s position looked to be ‘exceptionally fragile’ following that defeat, according to the report.

However, following an encouraging performance in the 3-1 defeat to Man City at the weekend, Guidolin has been given a stay of execution ahead of the Swans’ game against Liverpool on Saturday.

Swansea currently lie in 16th place in the table and are just one point clear of the relegation zone after six games.

However, the report states that Swansea’s new American owners will be reluctant to dismiss Guidolin ‘if the fans and players are prepared to be patient’.

With the international break looming, Cardiff-born Giggs could well be placed on standby for his first permanent managerial role if Swansea suffer a heavy defeat at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

Last week, Giggs denied there had been an approach from the Swans but said it was “no secret” that he would like to get back into football.

Giggs, who was previously caretaker boss at Old Trafford, has been working as a pundit since Louis van Gaal was dismissed as United manager in May.
