Atletico Madrid and several unnamed English clubs enquired about Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi during the summer transfer window, according to the Italian club’s managing director Giovanni Carnevalli.
Atleti were linked with several strikers, most notably Chelsea forward Diego Costa, before snapping up Kevin Gameiro from Sevilla.
The Spanish capital club, along with several sides from the Premier League, also considered a move for Italy under-21 international Berardi too.
Speaking to GR Parlamento, Sassuolo’s managing director Carnevalli said: “[We received] important proposals for him. English teams were interested in him and Atletico Madrid also asked about him. With Inter we did not speak, nor did they make us an offer. I do not know if they got in touch with the player or his representative, but with us, no. Something similar could have happened with Juventus.”
