ICYMI: Andy Murray Wins Vienna Title, And A Step Closer To Djokovic At No 1

The status quo is shifting and Andy Murray might be world No 1 soon at the expense of Novak Djokovic, after he won the Erste Bank Open in Vienna.

The Scot beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-3 7-6 to claim a third consecutive title, having won in Beijing and Shanghai earlier this month.

If Djokovic fails to win the Masters event in Paris next week, he might lose his spot to Murray, provided he wins the competition.

Tsonga, who had won only two of 15 previous meetings with Murray, was broken in his opening service game and made far too many errors to trouble the world No. 2.

The last six months has been good to the 29-year-old, who has now won seven titles, the most in a season in his career. He has lost just three matches since the French Open in June.
