Chelsea Won’t Be Offering John Terry A New Contract

Chelsea have told captain John Terry this will be his final season as a player at Stamford Bridge, according to exclusive reports in The Times.

The 36-year-old centre back, who signed a new one-year contract last May, has also informed the Blues he has no intention of leaving the club in the January transfer window.

The two parties are now expected to come to an agreement that will see Terry stay in west London in a coaching capacity.

Although Terry is seemingly undecided about whether or not to carry on playing, and is expected to have big-money offers from abroad both in January and at the end of the season

According to The Times, Shanghai Shenhua will come in for him with a £12million contract this winter, though Terry is likely to reject that for the time being and see out the campaign at the Bridge.

The 36-year-old is tempted by the prospect of retiring as a one-club man, but does not want to be rushed into that decision by Chelsea at this point.

Chelsea are looking at the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Michael Keane and Ben Gibson as potential defensive recruits this January as they start to plan for life after Terry.
