Watford striker Odion Ighalo wants the club to sign Chelsea midfielder JohnObi Mikel in the January window.
The Nigerian is out of contract in the summer, and despite the 29-year-old being linked with a move to China, Ighalo wants him at Vicarage Road.
Marseille and Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG, managed by Mikel’s ex-Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas, are among his suitors.
“I would like it if Mikel joined me at Watford,” the striker told reporters. “He is my captain at the national team. Apart from that he is a very good player, very talented.
“There is no team in the Premier League that will not want to have such a player.”
“I am happy I have played with him so I will be very happy to have him in my team.”
The 29-year-old, who has just six months left on his current deal, is yet to play a single minute of football this season.
Mikel has fallen out of favour at Chelsea since Antonio Conte’s appointment as manager in the summer.
