If the crossover fight between Mayweather and McGregor should happen, the irishman has vowed to shock the whole world.
A proposed fight between the UFC star and the unbeaten boxer, who is retired and intends to come out of retirement to face the mixed-martial arts star is expected to happen in the summer.
UFC president Dana White says there’s too much money in the fight to reject the possibility of it happening.
McGregor came to support fellow countryman, Conlon in his boxing professional debut at the Madison Square Garden.
“I’m the boxing guy. Watch me take over boxing,” bellowed McGregor to the assembled media ringside.
“Trust me on that. No one in this boxing game knows what’s coming. Trust me on that. When I step in there, I’m going to shock the whole goddamn world. Trust me on that.
“Look me in the eyes. Twenty-eight years of age, confident, long, rangy, dangerous with every hand. Trust me, I’m going to stop Floyd and you’re all going to eat your words.
“The whole world is going to eat their words.”
When pushed as to when the fight is likely happen, he added: “‘We’re getting close. You’ll hear about it.”
