Celtic have been alerted to the potential cut-price availability of Sunderland’s striker Fabio Borini, the Daily Record reports today.
A deal could be on the cards if the Black Cats are relegated from the Premier League, with Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers having worked with the Italian at Chelsea, Swansea and Liverpool.
It is understood he could leave for around half of the £8million Sunderland paid for him in August 2015.
Borini has struggled for goals this season but says that is due to boss Davie Moyes asking him to fill several different positions.
He said: “When we had injuries I have been told to play on the left, the right, in the middle, behind the striker, and even left-back when it was needed.”
Rodgers is looking for a striker and a wide player to cover the return of Patrick Roberts to Man City after his loan spell and Borini can fill both positions
