Roma have made contact with Riyad Mahrez’s agent to discuss a possible move to the Serie A club.
The Italians see Riyad Mahrez as a replacement for Mohamed Salah but Leicester want around £50million for a player who has been pivotal to their recent success.
Arsenal and Liverpool have also checked on Mahrez but were deterred by the valuation.
Sky Sport Italia claim Roma have made Mahrez their top target and are pushing ahead with a deal, tabling an offer in the region of £30 million.
Sporting director Monchi has been forced to search for a new winger to replace Mohamed Salah, who completed a move to Liverpool at the end of June, though missed the Reds’ first pre-season friendly as he is still awaiting a work permit.
Roma have also discussed Manchester City’s Samir Nasri as another option to Mahrez.
