Ryan Shawcross has signed a new four-year contract with Stoke.
The Stoke City captain was inside the final 12 months of his previous deal but is now committed “until at least 2021”, according to a club statement.
Ryan Shawcross reiterated his love for the Potters, relationship with fans and respect for Mark Hughes as he enters his second decade at the club.
And that is even if the arrival of Wimmer , Bruno Martins Indi and Kurt Zouma to go with Shawcross and Geoff Cameron has fans wondering how Hughes can fit everyone in.
Shawcross said: “You’ll have to ask the manager! It means a lot more competition for the back three positions. As long as I’m playing I don’t mind.
Stoke confirmed on their official Twitter site: “#SCFC are delighted to announce that skipper Ryan Shawcross has signed a new four-year contract, committing him to the club until at least 2021.”
Shawcross signed for Stoke in January 2008 after a successful spell on loan from Manchester United.
The centre-half, 29, has helped establish the club as a Premier League fixture and earned a full England cap in 2012.
