Nigeria’s Falconets Thrash Tanzania 6-0 In World Cup Qualifier

Nigeria’s National Women’s U-20 team, the Falconets, have qualified for the second round of the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying series after thrashing their Tanzanian counterparts 6-0 in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

Four goals in the first half and two in the second half were enough to earn the Falconets the massive win in the second leg of the first round to advance 9-0 on aggregate.

They had recorded a 3-0 win in the first leg tie a fortnight ago in Benin City, Edo State.

Rasheedat Ajibade opened the scoring in the 20th minute before making it a brace for herself six minutes later.

Midfielder Folashade Ijamilusi and big striker Anam Imo registered their names on the score sheet as the first half ended 4-0 in favour of Nigeria.

Ijamilusi and substitute Cynthia Aku netted two more goals to complete the rout.

Nigeria will now face Morocco in the second round of the qualifying series with the Falconets away in the first leg in Rabat.
