After forcing ALIE back into the sky last season, those left on the ground face a threat greater than themselves and much less controllable. The nuclear power plants around the world are melting and spreading deadly radiation
The CW released the first trailer for The 100 Season 4 which showcases the coming tragedy. Will humanity win out? Or will the original plan to wipe out Earth with nuclear bombs finally find success? It’s too bad that the Ice Nation blew up Mount Weather. That would have been an excellent refuge from the coming radiation.
Clarke tries to reassure people in the new trailer, “I know you’re afraid. I know that you’re angry, but if we stick together, we won’t just survive, we’ll thrive.”
The situation on the ground is certainly bad, but for The 100 fans, there’s some good news in the trailer as well. Both Roan and Indra survived their nearly fatal situations in the Season 3 finale. And, romances pushed to the edge are seen blossoming once again.
It’s mostly ugly on the ground though. It’s not just the radiation that threatens humanity. Fighting and killing between people continues as well. Octavia is on a mission of justice and vengeance taking lives by her own hand. She even earns her own name and legend as Skairipa (Sky Reaper), as declared by Roan.
Clarke remains a focal point of leadership and has a different point of view from Monty, Murphy and Jasper, while Bellamy and Clarke appear to have overcome their challenges with each other. Abby continues to be a voice of reason and Kane is the savior.
It wouldn’t be The 100 if characters we’ve grown to love weren’t in peril, face death and even die. The clip shows Octavia, Raven and possibly Jaha in danger of being the major death of the upcoming season.
The Flame remains in play! Who is that taking it out of the tin and putting it on her forehead? Could there be a new Commander?
And the most shocking moment comes at the last second! Clarke! You’ll have to watch to find out what happens….

A few key quotes from the trailer:
Abby: “First, we survive and then we find our humanity again.”
Jasper: “I don’t want us to survive. I want us to live.”
Clarke: “You still have hope?”
Bellamy: “We’re still breathing.”
The 100 Season 4 premieres Wednesday, February 1 at 9/8pm CT.
