Now that we know that Echo, portrayed by actress Tasya Teles, is not only returning for the upcoming season 5 but will be a series regular, I’m hoping she’ll be more likable. I don’t know if I could do another season with Echo’s sneaky and scamming ways. Plus, it would be so good to see her have a moment of redemption as she makes more appearances in the newer episodes.

But her becoming a series regular isn’t the only reason I have hope that Echo will be more likable and just plain nicer in the new season. The notion that she survived a fatal attack alone would be the perfect reason to give Echo a change of heart and turn over a new leaf. Loyal fans who have been tuning in to the series since its early days know that Echo’s first appearance was back in season 2, and she’s been a problem since then. From murdering Ilian in season 4 to backstabbing Bellamy (both of which she eerily enjoyed), to say that Echo has been an unlikable piece of work would be an understatement.

Still, she has a chance to make things right, and this is the perfect time. With television and movie villains like Echo, it always seems as if they have a story of why they are the way that they are. And I’m willing to bet that Echo has a story that explains why she’s so evil. Of course, nothing could really excuse everything she’s done over the past few seasons, but if she somehow addressed her past and came to terms with it, that could boost her chances of being more likable. Either way, it’s time for Echo to become one of the good guys.
What do you think about Echo being a series regular next season? Do you think there’s hope for her to change?
