Kevin Feige Says Marvel Studios Could Totally Have Its Own Comic-Con

With Disney finding lots of success staging days-long events such as Star Wars Celebration and D23 that speak specifically to their own brands, it’s fair to start wondering whether Marvel Studios will ever do something similar. After the fourth Avengers movie hits theaters, we will have witnessed 22 Marvel Studios movies since 2008’s Iron Man... and that’s not the end of it. So with a cinematic universe as large as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is it time for the MCU to host its own Celebration of sorts?

Fandango had a chance to chat with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige in advance of Thor: Ragnarok arriving in theaters on November 3, and we asked him whether they were considering staging their own massive fan event that spoke specifically to the Marvel Studios movies.

“Over the years there have been discussions about that,” he said. “I think what we try to do occasionally in San Diego we’re very proud of and think is a fun tradition. That being said, I think [Star Wars] Celebration is pretty amazing. I’ve been to a few Celebrations and the idea of doing something like that … I think we have enough content, and enough fans, and enough ideas that we could easily do something like that, I’m just not sure where or when.”

Marvel Studios shared the stage with Star Wars: The Last Jedi at this past D23, but The Last Jedi also made an appearance at this year’s Star Wars Celebration, too. We attended both events, and the thought of a Celebration geared specifically to Marvel Studios — with many of their heroes and villains moderating panels, teasing footage and hanging out with fans — is something that just makes sense. While we certainly don’t want to give up the experience of watching Marvel close out San Diego Comic-Con each year, seeing how Star Wars manages to dance between events with only one or two major movies to promote leads us to believe that Marvel could certainly do the same considering they are now putting out three movies a year.

Will we ever see a Marvel Studos Celebration? It definitely seems Feige is open to it. Would you go?
