Movie News: Channing Tatum to Star in FBI Drama ‘Bloodlines’

Logan Lucky

Bloodlines: Channing Tatum (Logan Lucky, above) will star in a big-screen adaptation of Bloodlines: The True Story of a Drug Cartel, the FBI, and the Battle for a Horse-Racing Dynasty. Melissa Del Bosque’s book, which will be published on September 12, tells the true story of a rookie FBI agent in Laredo, Texas who becomes involved in the infiltration of a notorious Mexican drug cartel. Universal Pictures optioned the screen rights; Jonathan Herman (Straight Outta Compton) will write the screenplay. [Deadline]

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Avengers 4: Jeremy Renner recently got a new haircut (see below) that may be significant. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, his character Hawkeye has a wife and children who are safely hidden away, a plot point that was evidently inspired by events in the Marvel Ultimate comic book universe. In that universe, Hawkeye’s family is killed and he embarks on a dangerous new course, which includes cutting his hair. We’ll have to wait and see if that inspiration holds true for the currently-filming fourth installment of the Avengers franchise. [Movieweb]
