Movie News: See Alicia Vikander Risking Life, Limb in ‘Lara Croft’

Lara Croft: Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl) risks life and limb in a new photo (below) from Lara Croft. She is thrust into adventure when she decides to search for her missing father (Dominic West). Based on the 2013 edition of the popular video game series, the movie is headed for release on March 16, 2018. [EW.com]

The Big Sick

The Irishman: Ray Romano, who has been winning acclaim for his performance in The Big Sick (above), has joined the cast of The Irishman. It will mark a reunion for the actor with director Martin Scorsese; the two previously worked together on the HBO series Vinyl. Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci are already set to star; Al Pacino, Harvey Keitel and Bobby Cannavale are in talks to board the project, which tells of a mob hitman who claims to know what happened to the long-missing union leader Jimmy Hoffa. Honeymoon

Fear Street: Three installments in R.L. Stine’s horror novel series Fear Street are heading to the big screen. Leigh Janiak (Honeymoon, above) will rewrite the first script with her partner Phil Graziadei and then direct. She will also coordinate the writing of the second and third scripts by Zak Olkewicz (Lights Out) and Silka Luisa, respectively. The three movies might be released in theaters one month after another, back to back to back. The book series is set in the town of Shadyside, Ohio and follows a variety of characters in different time periods. [Heat Vision]

Pilgrimage

Pilgrimage Trailer: Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Jon Bernthal and Richard Armitage star in Pilgrimage. As the first trailer reveals, the story takes place in 13th century Ireland, following a group of monks who are tasked with transporting a sacred relic across dangerous territory.
