News Briefs: ‘The Crow’ Remake Moves Forward

The Crow

The Crow Reborn: The latest development in the long-gestating plan to remake The Crow is that three companies have teamed to acquire the rights to finance, produce and distribute the movie. Plans are to begin production on The Crow Reborn, a more faithful version of James O’Barr’s original graphic novel, next year. It’s not known if previously attached star Jason Momoa and/or director Corin Hardy will remain with the project. [THR]

Rob Brydon / Kelly Macdonald / Rebecca Hall

Holmes & Watson: Rob Brydon, Kelly Macdonald and Rebecca Hall have joined the cast of Holmes & Watson. They will portray Scotland Yard’s head inspector, housekeeper Mrs. Hudson, and the first female doctor in London, respectively. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are already set to star in the comedy, inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective stories. [Deadline]

Spectral

Spectral: Netflix has acquired Spectral, starring James Badge Dale, Emily Mortimer and Bruce Greenwood. The sci-fi thriller follows a scientist who goes on a dangerous mission with a specially trained military team to a war-torn city plagued by “mysterious phantom aggressors.” The movie will be available on Netflix worldwide, starting on December 9. Before I Fall

Before I Fall Trailer: Based on a novel by Lauren Oliver, Before I Fall features rising star Zoey Deutch as a young woman who gets stuck reliving the last day before she dies, over and over again. The movie will open in theaters on March 3. [Movieclips]
