In this week’s Indie Movie Guide, our host Alicia Malone reports from Austin’s eccentric, entertaining Fantastic Fest. If you don’t know it, the fest features the best in weird, offbeat, intriguing indie film — and crazy events like boxing ring debates.
Here, Alicia gives us some insight about the nearly three-hours-long American Honey, about a girl wandering America with a group of door-to-door magazine salespeople, as well as the biopic Denial, starring Rachel Weisz as an author and historian who won’t back down from proving the Holocaust really took place. Bonus: Alicia talks to the star of American Honey, Sasha Lane, who’s clearly poised for a breakout. Both films open in select theaters September 30.
