Watch Angry Matt Damon in First ‘Suburbicon’ Trailer, Directed by George Clooney

Suburbicon

In the Bourne series of spy movies, Matt Damon was furious but contained and in control. Now in the first trailer for Suburbicon, he looks furious but almost completely out of control in 1950’s suburbia.

If the somewhat crazed trailer — in a good way! — looks and sounds reminiscent of movies by the Coen Brothers, that’s no coincidence. They originally wrote the script early in their careers. George Clooney directed and adds his own visual flourishes, as he’s done before in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Good Night, and Good Luck and The Monuments Men.

Watch the trailer below.

Earlier this year, our own Erik Davis talked with Clooney and costar Julianne Moore about the challenges involved in adapting a script written by the Coen Brothers..

Ethan Coen, Joel Coen, George Clooney, Grant Heslov.

Suburbicon

Starring:

Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, Noah Jupe and Oscar Isaac.

Official Synopsis:

Suburbicon is a peaceful, idyllic suburban community with affordable homes and manicured lawns…the perfect place to raise a family, and in the summer of 1959, the Lodge family is doing just that. But the tranquil surface masks a disturbing reality, as husband and father Gardner Lodge (Matt Damon) must navigate the town’s dark underbelly of betrayal, deceit, and violence. This is a tale of very flawed people making very bad choices. This is Suburbicon.

Fun Fact:

Also one thing I did not know about #Suburbicon was that the Coens wrote the script for it all the way back in 1986.
